My wife wants to move to the UAE to live with me – can I stop her?

In my column this week in The National newspaper, I answer a reader who wants to know whether he can file a complaint against his wife. The man lives in the UAE but his wife lives in his home country with his parents; however he has discovered she has applied for a residency visa without his permission and he wishes to stop this from happening. I explain immigration laws govern the entry and exit of all foreign residents into the UAE and his wife may be granted a permit if she finds a valid sponsor without the need for her husband’s consent
